AC Milan release Brazilian midfielder Emerson

Brazilian midfielder Emerson has been released from his contract with AC Milan due to "personal reasons" the club said Tuesday.

The former AS Roma, Juventus and Real Madrid player had his contract cancelled on Tuesday after the Brazilian asked to leave the San Siro following an unhappy two-year spell.

Emerson arrived at Milan, coming from Real Madrid, in the second half of August 2007. The Brazilian champion, from that moment, made 39 appearences with the Rossoneri: 26 in Serie A (11 this season, 15 last season), 3 in the Champions League, 5 in the Uefa Cup, 3 in the Tim Cup. The Puma also made positive appearences in the second halves in Montecarlo against Sevilla and in Yokohama against Boca Juniors, in the matches that allowed Milan to conquer the European Supercup and the Club World Cup.
