Thiago Silva

AC Milan are close to signing 24-year-old Brazilian centre back Thiago Silva from Fluminense, Italian media have reported.
The Serie A side are currently without injured defenders Alessandro Nesta and Daniele Bonera, who will be out for at least three weeks after having surgery on an inguinal hernia, the club said on their website (www.acmilan.com)
Silva, who has two caps for the Brazilian national team and was part of Brazil’s Olympic squad in the summer, is making his return to European football after unsuccessful spells with Porto and Dynamo Moscow in 2004 and 2005. Since then, he’s rebuilt his career at Fluminense and developed into a player coveted by some of the best of the best.
Rossoneri coach Carlo Ancelotti declared: "Thiago Silva is the best defender in circulation and for this I think that Milan has done a great deal.

"He's a huge central defender. Last year, he was named Brazil's best player, now he must be rated only in the European context. Surely he's a good investment for the future."
