AC Milan is continuing talks with the LA Galaxy

AC Milan is continuing talks with the Los Angeles Galaxy on making David Beckham's move to the Italian club permanent.
Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said there was still no deal, but hinted that an agreement could be reached by Friday.

"There's is still some distance," he told the ANSA news agency. "Friday could be the decisive day for Beckham. The player wants to stay. We'll see how the situation evolves."

The meeting between AC Milan director Umberto Gandini and AEG boss Tim Lieweke looks to be postponed until next week, according to Italian outlet Sportmediaset. Originally scheduled to be arriving in L.A. on Thursday, Gandini and club representatives now won't be landing in the USA until next week, delaying a possible decision on Beckham's future until Feb. 23 and further underscoring the club's lack of immediacy in resolving the issue.

According to Reuters, an AC Milan source said Wednesday that if they obtain Beckham's services, they'll be offering him an 18-month contract that will have him at the club "until at least June 30, 2010," days before the FIFA World Cup is to be played in South Africa.

Reuters also reports that the latest estimates of a transfer fee for the 33-year-old English international have Milan ready to offer $10 million (U.S.), with Major League Soccer wanting $15 million.
