Gattuso was willing to take a pay cut
Rino Gattuso has started works to give his birth town Corigliano Calabro a football pitch and a sports structure.
"From the bricks of an abandoned pitch to the synthetic grass of a modern stadium is a big step," Gattuso said, presenting today at Saronno the project which will be realised by his social benefit organisation.
"I've been trying it for six years, but now the works have finally started."
During the presentation of the project, Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso said he was willing to take a pay cut to help AC Milan survive the global economic crisis.
"In a period like this I would be favorable to reduce the player salaries. I already talked about it with Galliani. If the club asks me for a reduction I would be ready." Gattuso, sidelined by a knee injury, was quoted as saying on the club's website.
