Maldini: Milan Will Not Win The Champion League without Kaka

Milan-The former AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini felt lost with departure of Kaka to Real Madrid. He said Wednesday the club has no chance of winning the Champions League next season without Kaka.

The Brazilian confirmed his move to Madrid for a reported €65 million with a six year contract on Monday, saying he hoped his sale would help ease Milan's financial woes.

"To think of winning the Champions League without Kaka is a utopian objective," Maldini said on Milan's Web site on Wednesday.

"He’s one of the five best players in the world, just like Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. This decision was taken badly by my team-mates and the fans."

But the legend believed that Milan's story goes on, although their had so many farewells but this team always started again greatly with bigger objectives.

"As a player, when Baresi quit, I felt almost lost, I was missing a morale and physical support, I was seeing a black future, but then the club worked well and everything started again," his said.

Kaka will play for Real Madrid next season, it that mean there is one space at the team as a second striker. And there is possibility Ronaldinho will replaced him for this space.

Maldini does feel that new coach Leonardo will not have to look too far to find a replacement for the 2007 World Player of the Year.

"Ronaldinho will have a lot of responsibility next season. Last year he didn't surpass himself, but I think this responsibility will do him good."

Maldini is a legend

Paolo Maldini, a name, a legend. He has tied his entire career to Milan, the team of his city which saw him mature and grow as a man and a professional. In 1978 he had his first try-out with the Rossoneri, his Serie A debut on 20 January 1985 under Nils Liedhbolm, while he was just sixteen, in a match against Udinese (1-1).
Already the following season, at just 17, Paolo became a first choice in the Rossoneri's formation, with the number 3 shirt of the left back. He scored his first Serie A goal on 4 January 1987 in Como-Milan (0-1). In Europe, his first goal came on 21 October 1992 in Slovan Bratislava-Milan (0-1).

Today Paolo is Milan's captain, husband and father of Christian and Daniel, and holds the record for the most seasons in Serie A with the same team. With 25 consecutive seasons played with Milan, he is the record holder for appearences: 895 official games played, including Cups.

"There are seven games left to the end of the season" - Paolo Maldini said in an interview to Turin daily newspaper 'La Stampa' - "I've solved my physical problems, I'd like to get to 900."
The Rossoneri's captain made up a balance of his career on his last season as a player, saying: "As a man and a player I gave my best from when I was 30 to when I turned 40." On which game gave him the most emotions, Maldini answered: "The debut in Udine. Battistini got injured, Liedholm told me during the break in the dressing room."

With Milan's shirt in Italy he won, at national level: 7 Scudetti (1987-1988, 1991-1992, 1992-1993, 1993-1994, 1995-1996, 1998-1999, 2003-2004); 5 Italian Supercups (1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2004 ) and 1 Coppa Italia (2002-2003); at international level: 5 Champions Cups/Champions League (1988-1989, 1989-1990, 1993-1994, 2002-2003, 2006-2007); 5 UEFA Supercups (1989, 1990, 1994, 2003, 2007); 2 Intercontinental Cups (1989, 1990); 1 Club World Cup (2007).

With the national team shirt he debuted at age 19, on 31 March 1988 in Jugoslavia-Italy (1-1) and scored the first of his 7 goals on 20 January 1993 in Florence against Mexico (2-0).

He quit the national team in 2002 at 34 after the World Cup. With the Azzurri's shirt he has played 126 matches (an absolute record), scoring 7 goals. Paolo also holds the record for the amount of matches with the captain's armband: 74. It's also possible that he will wear the Azzurri's shirt one more time in a possible friendly at Pescara in an act of solidarity towards Abruzzo: "It would be magnificent, I would be proud" - Maldini commented.

On 26 June Maldini will turn 41 and he will end this cycle of honors, glories and victories with the Rossoneri shirt, but since a few months a 'new' defender, Thiago Silva, is training alongside him at Milanello, and Paolo gave him his grade: "A very high grade. He's strong and quick. He's worthy of Milan."

All of this is captain Maldini, a unique case in the world and certainly all the Rossoneri fans, and not only them, will have a sad day when he plays his last match at San Siro on 24 May against Roma: "I would have liked to finish at San Siro, but our last match is in Florence. And so I will wave the fans goodbye the Sunday before, on 24 May at home against Roma."

Maldini: Important to maintain our balance

For AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini Milan's victory over atalanta last week it was an important victory both for the morale and the table. It was whereas The Rossoneri was in difficulties moment few weeks, Milan was ousted from the UEFA Cup by Germany club Werder Bremen and was also beaten by Sampdoria.

According to the captain declaration exclusively to Milan Channel before training session And now the Rossoneri are able to train well and face these two away games which will both be delicate for different reasons.

"Siena are a team who have made it difficult for many teams at home and Napoli become a very dangerous team again after the coaching change."

Maldini: I have already won five times

Mourinho is Mourinho...He would say anything what He wants to. And now he got a counter attack by AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini.
AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini has responded angrily to Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho's claims that the Rossoneri win will nothing this season.

"It doesn't matter that Milan have so many players with a winning mentality, this season they will finish with no trophies," Mourinho said after the Coppa Italia clash with Sampdoria.

The veteran defender is eager to remind the Inter coach that he is yet to win a single Scudetto, when Maldini already has five.

"I don't want to trade insults with Mourinho, but he really can't make these claims until he wins something for Inter himself.

"As far as I know, he is discussing something which he has a chance of winning, but which I have already won five times."

Actually there is positive mark behind Mourinho's claimed. That is a big chalenge for Milan to prove that Inter Milan is not better than Milan. Milan have to perform their class - get a winning in every Milan matches to save their position in third table until end season is as Milan objective in short term and get the Champion League trophy for the next season is as the long term.

I believe if Milan could prove it, the Rossoneri could shut Mourinho's mouth up.
Come on you can do it...Bravo Milan!

Paolo Maldini left Europe

The match Milan against Werder Bremen in round 32 second leg at San Siro on Thursday migth be was the last Maldini's Europe. The Rossoneri was eliminition by the championship, whereas Milan lost by Bremen's goal away-it's finished 2-2.
To get UEFA cup's trophy is a realistic hope for Milan after failed at Italian cup and the minimally chance to get scudetto at Serie A.

AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini left Europe.Disappointed for the elimination, but with his head held high for his history and his performance. The numbers and past results are of the highest level.

Paolo Maldini debuted on the international scene with Milan's shirt almost 24 years ago. It was September 18 1985, Milan were facing Auxerre in France, in the Uefa Cup. The defensive line was made up of Tassotti, Filippo Galli, Franco Baresi and the same Paolo. The French side won 3-1, but in the second leg, always with Maldini on the pitch, the Rossoneri's team qualified thanks to a 3-0 win at San Siro.

From that double clash until today, Paolo Maldini has the following record: 139 in the Champions Cup/Champions League, 22 in the Uefa Cup and 7 in the European Super Cup. Apart from 7 games in the Interncontinental Cup. In total 168 official games with the Milan shirt in the European cups and 7 games in world scene in the Fifa competition.

Something unique, extraordinary, unrepeatable. Last night the last act, against Werder Bremen in the Uefa Cup. This second part of the Rossoneri's season contains inside a series of 'last times' of the captain and putting them together one after another can appear repetetive, but an international parable like the one of Paolo Maldini cannot be accompanied with all the honours. Something fantastic which ends is never something negative. Never.
