Maldini achieved the celebrative medal for his 900th appearence
Milan - Legendary AC Milan Paolo Maldini achieved the celebrative medal for his 900th appearence in Milan's shirt. Maldini reached this target last Saturday at the 'Friuli' against Udinese, in the stadium where he made his debut in 1985.
The appreciation was given by AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani before the team's training session ahead of Milan-Roma.
"Paolo Maldini has reached the 900 game milestone in 24 years," Galliani told Milan Channel.
There are uniques thing to Maldini's career. He made his Serie A debut on 20 January 1985 under Nils Liedholm, while he was just sixteen, in a match against Udinese (1-1). On 16 January 2005, in the Sunday where Italian football celebrated the 20 years in football of the Rossoneri captain and former national team captain, with 3-1 victory against Udinese. It will happened again next Saturday, when Paolo Maldini will play his 900th official match with Milan's shirt.
And then each time Maldini reached a 100th game, he played an away game. The 100th, the 200th and so on until the 900th, all away from home.
It's right what Galliani said - "I think this is an absolute record that will remain in history."
On 26 June Maldini will turn 41 and he will end this cycle of honors, glories and victories with the Rossoneri shirt. All of this is captain Maldini, a unique case in the world and certainly all the Rossoneri fans, and not only them, will have a sad day when he plays his last match at San Siro against Roma.
