"It has been an honour playing with Maldini as he is part of the club's history," Senderos told Sky Sport Italia.

AC Milan defender Philippe Senderos has revealed his pleasure at playing alongside club legend Paolo Maldini, describing the experience as an "honour".

Maldini is set to retire at the end of the season and he is currently preparing to play his last match at the San Siro this Sunday against Roma. Senderos has spoken of the influence his captain has had upon his time with Milan.

"Paolo is a great man before being a great footballer. We all have a lot of respect for him, for what he has done," said the 24 year old player to Milan Channel.

"He will be sorely missed in the dressing room next year, by the team and Milanello, he is a part of all this. He's a great professional who always works hard and this is an example for all those who arrive."

The defender also admits that he was very happy and hopes to stay with the Rossoneri. But also he realizes that the decision doesn't depend on him but on the agreement between the two clubs.
